The Apex Postal Auction 147 on April 21st achieved sales of £180,000 with plenty of impressive realisations. Highlights of the GB section included a hammer price of £4500 for lot 534, the 1887 used £1 green with inverted watermark [only around 20 known], £900 for lot 536 1887 1/- green and carmine fine mint, also with inverted watermark and £1200 for lot 128 a 1d Mulready lettersheet with '10' in Maltese Cross. High values were in demand with lot 416, 10/- Anchor on blued paper with cds fetching £1650, lot 422 £5 orange with cds £1600, lot 498, 10/- cobalt with 'Gresham House' cds £2000 and lot 599, 1911 £1 Edward VII u/m £1080.

From the Commonwealth section, lot 1882 Bermuda 1938 5/- with 'Gash in chin' variety realised £850, the scarce Falklands 1933 5/- 'Penguin' black on orange yellow shade fine mint, lot 2617 was sold for £1700 and lot 5618, St. Helena 15/- lower marginal fine used was knocked down for £2400.
