Finland Post issues three climate change stamps

Finland Post issues three climate change stamps

The effects of global warming can already been seen in Finland – and it’s taking a heavy toll on Arctic wildlife. The scientists assert that climate change will also force some species to seek out new habitats further north. To draw people`s attention to this problem Finland Post has released three innovative stamps depicting the dramatic effects of climate change that are expected in the near future if the weather gets warmer and warmer.

The Finnish climate is expected to warm up considerably by the end of this century, with the greatest temperature increases occurring during winter. This means that the winters will be milder and more humid. Northern Finland is also projected to warm up by six degrees by the end of the century.

The particular focus of the stamps is the effect of climate change on Finnish weather conditions, nature and society. These interesting and thought provoking items were designed by Timo Berry, who used heat-pressed ink while creating the issue. The peculiarity of this ink is that it changes color when touched with a finger. By touching the stamp with your finger, you can see what we can expect in Finland if the constant warming of the climate is not brought under control.
