KoreaPost released two stamps celebrating tLunar New Year 2020. After the year of the pig, 2019, the year 2020 will be the Year of the (Metal) Rat according to the Chinese zodiac, which is why these two stamps depicting rats in a cute and playful manner. This animal is a symbol of fertility, abundance and prosperity that is why the Year of the Rat is promised to be full of hope and opportunities.

Those who were born at night during the rat year are thought to live a rich life as rats are seen as a sign of wealth and abundance. These rodents are also considered to be good protectors of the wealth. People believe that luck is always on the side of a person who was born in the year of the rat.

The new postage stamps introduced by Korea Post feature cute little rats. The white ones in the heart-shaped ornaments are handing over a large red berry, and the rats poised to catch the light are making a New Year’s wish towards the twinkling lights. Introducing this postal issue Korea Post expresses hope that the year 2020 will be blessed with abundance, warmth and the wonder of a loving heart just like the white rats on the postage stamps.
