Slovenia Post issued a special stamp featuring Logar Valley Nature Park that is one of the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in Europe. The Logar Valley and the mountainsides boast a variety of mountain flowers, some of which are very rare or even endangered. The stamp designed by Slovenia Post shows the beauty of nature and the varied hilly and mountainous landscape. This issue calls on us to sense our inner voice through active movement, a voice telling us we are also part of nature.
The valley, which is tectonic in origin, and ultimately shaped by glaciers, measures 9km in length, and extends to 500 m in its widest part. Centuries ago the valley was recognized as one of the most beautiful glacial valleys of the entire Alps. In 1987 the valley was proclaimed a nature park and a natural asset of national importance. A prominent feature of the Logar Valley Nature Park destination is the cuisine of the entire Solčava area. Farms in the area of the park use the food they produce to supply their own needs and for tourist consumption.
