FindYourStampsValue.com got to know that Sri Lanka Post released stamps depicting its wildlife. The issue consists of six stamps featuring six different animals that habitat in Pigeon Island Marine National Park. The stamps were put into circulation on the 22d of August and are now available for purchasing.

Stamps depicting the diversity of Sri Lanka's wildlife are the most popular among collectors, Postal Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga said. He said earnings of the Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau increased during last year due to the quality of stamps and other services.

The minister was addressing a press conference at the Postal Services Ministry yesterday. The press conference was organized to announce the issuance of six stamps depicting wildlife in the Pigeon Island and in areas close to Trincomalee.

Thirty four stamps will be issued annually. Four stamps were issued in previous years under the wildlife theme. During the last five years stamps were issued depicting wildlife in Yala, Wilpattu, Wasgomuwa and Horton Plains, the minister said.
