1882 £1 Brown Lilac is to be sold for $72,027 at Siegel auction

1882 £1 Brown Lilac is to be sold for $72,027 at Siegel auction

Robert A Siegel is to sell one of the greatest British philatelic rarities - 1882 £1 Brown Lilac, Imprimatur. Only a handful of imprimaturs of the 1882 £1 Brown Lilac have been recorded. At least two of them have had forged perforations added to simulate the issued stamp. This very fine and high quality example of one the scarcest imprimaturs will be offered at a huge sale that will be conducted on December 4-5. The auction will also contain an interesting assemblage of desirable stamps and covers from around the world. So don`t miss it!

1882 £1 Brown Lilac stamp is one the scarcest Victorian issues, ensuring plenty of interest among stamp collectors. The stamp features a profile of Queen Victoria who was the queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 to 1901. She is the second longest reign of any other British monarch in history. 1882 £1 Brown lilac on white paper, an incredibly rare unused single, reasonably fresh, with warm rich color, is the rarest of the Nineteenth Century high values and is almost never encountered in this fault-free condition. The lot offered by Siegel, which features large margins all around and rich colors, is expected to fetch more than £55,000 (or roughly $72,027).
