Armenian cross-stones art commemorated with a new issue

According to info received by FindYourStampsValue.com two stamps, dedicated to Armenian cross-stones art, have been released by Haypost. Two stamps dedicated to the theme "UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Armenian cross-stones art. Symbolism and Craftsmanship of Khachkars" are put into circulation on December 12th, 2014.

One stamp depicts the Khachkar of Mastara (XIII c.) with the second one depicting the Holy Redeemer of Urtz (1279). Cross-stone (khachkar) making culture started to develop from the times when Armenia adopted Christianity as a state religion. There are a lot of preserved cross-stones all over Armenia. According to different sources, the oldest ones stand from the IV-VII centuries.
