Land art – four stamps released by Swiss Post

Land art – four stamps released by Swiss Post

Land art is a beautiful natural art creations, a fascinating piece of landscape that becomes the artist’s working environment. An extremely talented exponent of this artistic genre is the polygrapher, designer and globetrotter Ivo Moosberger. Four of his short-lived works have now been immortalized as special stamps. The motifs depict works of art located in different parts of Switzerland. They are all made of different materials, take a variety of forms and capture a range of moods.

The stamps feature such pieces of land art as Buttercup rings (Ticino), Willow rod spheres (Zug), Stone spiral (Uri), Stone arch (Graubünden).

Ivo Moosberger was born in Zug in 1974. Since the early childhood Ivo has been fascinated by the colours, shapes and patterns of nature. The changing of the seasons is one of his sources of inspirations. To experience this as intensely as he could, he often goes camping. The polygrapher, artist and globetrotter feels compelled to seek fresh horizons at least every two years. The artist spends several days building each of his works of land art, which will only have a short lifespan. His works are free from any kind of social pressure and have no material value, but are full of improvisational skill and creativity.
