This year, the Europa stamp has been designed in honour of the letter. PostEurop, the umbrella organization for the large European postal authorities sets a different theme for the stamp each year. The Little Polar Bear Lars has had a loyal following for more than twenty years. The picture-book character created by Hans de Beer has inspired eight books and two films, and the animated cartoon series ran for years on television.
