"The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven" is the first color animated cartoon produced by China. The two-episode movie was shot from 1961 to 1964 by Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It creates the animated image of Sun Wukong, or the Monkey King, a representative character of Chinese myth.

The animation has strong features of the Chinese nation and culture, and rich imagination is incorporated in its presentation. It is a milestone in the history of Chinese animations, watched by several generations. In 2012, the animation had a 3D edition, bringing more vitality to this classic.

China National Philatelic Corporation will issue two FDCs and a commemorative cancellation respectively.
