FindYourStampsValue.com is glad to inform that Monaco Post is ready to release a special stamp to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri. The item depicts a portrait of this great Italian writer. The stamp has been already designed and is to be put into circulation on the 9th of April.

The great Italian poet Dante Alighieri (born Florence 1265, died Ravenna 1321) is considered to be the father of the modern Italian language. His major work, the Divine Comedy, known and studied throughout the world, is recognized as a literary masterpiece.

Dante also played a very active role in Florence's political life. His support for the White Guelphs and their opposition to papal interference earned him a death sentence and he was condemned to be burnt at the stake. He went into exile and never returned to Florence.
