Batman is to lend on the next stamp issue of the USA Post
FindYourStampsValue.com got a great news: USA Post is to issue the Batman stamp on the 6th of October. Batman joins fellow superheroes The Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman and Aquaman, who have all graced the corners of envelopes on special-edition stamps. The stamp depicts Batman as first envisioned by creator Bob Kane during the Golden Age of Comics. The Super Hero's black cape and cowl, and gray suit formed his iconic visual identity.
"Batman is the most popular Superhero of all time, and it is an honor to have the U.S. Postal Service feature the Caped Crusader on this new set of stamps in celebration of his 75th anniversary," DC Entertainment co-publisher Jim Lee says. "Batman has inspired and influenced fans around the world for generations and will continue to do so for the next 75 years and beyond."
The sheet of 20 "Forever" stamps — 49 cents each, but still good if postal rates go up — has eight designs depicting four eras, from Batman's beginnings in Gotham City in 1939 to the gritty crime fighter of today.
"He is the quintessential American superhero", says Susan McGowan, the Postal Service's director of stamp services and corporate licensing. "What a great place to celebrate him — on a stamp. We are always looking for ideas and subjects that are important to America. We all quickly thought, 'Wow! This will be thrilling.'"
About 25 limited-edition stamps are released every year, one or two a month and a few around the holidays. The first-day-of-issue ceremony for the limited-edition Batman stamp set will be at the New York Comic Con kickoff Oct. 9.
