Children’s philately stamps were introduced by Armenian Post

According to info got by in 2014 on December 30th, three stamps dedicated to the theme “Children’s philately. Folk tales.  Armenian national games. Family through a child’s vision” have been put into circulation.

The stamps depict the children’s ’drawings which represent a fragment from “Qaj Nazar” (“Nazar the Brave”) folk tale, “Seven stones” Armenian national game and a “Family through a child’s vision” picture.

Nazar the Brave, a fairy tale by Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan.  In Armenia Qaj Nazar (The Brave Nazar) is a symbol for cowardness, but in other countries he is much more a wise character.

Pittu Garam (Seven Stones) is a traditional Armenian game played between two teams. The game requires a tennis ball and set of seven stones which can be stacked up to form a small tower. The aim of the game is to be able to break the tower and then rebuild it before getting hit by one of the opponent.
