"Design a Stamp" Competition organized by Jersey Post

October 19th, 2014

According to info got by FindYourStampsValue.com Jersey Post launched an exciting island-wide competition on Wednesday 8th October, offering islanders of all ages the opportunity to design a real Jersey stamp. Ten winners will be chosen. Their stamps will appear on the letters and postcards in November next year.

The theme of the competition is 'My Jersey' and islanders are being asked to create designs which best illustrate what Jersey means to them, be it a favourite place or local delicacy, a significant historical event or person from history. The competition is open to all ages and entries are accepted in a variety of media including coloring pencils, felt tips, paint and photography.

Jersey Post's Philatelic Marketing Executive, Rachel MacKenzie commented: "We're always looking for new inspiration and fresh ideas for our stamp issues and we wanted to launch a competition that the whole island could get involved in without putting restrictions on age or the art materials that people prefer to use. Jersey has a wealth of creative talent and we're confident we're going to see some really brilliant designs".

In addition to having their stamp seen by The Queen, winners will also be able to choose from a selection of special 'My Jersey' prizes including a year's family membership to Jersey Heritage and Durrell Wildlife Park, a fantastic ‘Escape from Elizabeth Castle' adventure day.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 27th March 2015 and winners will be announced in June. Entries will be judged by a panel made up of representatives from Jersey Post.
