Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday celebrated with a special philately exhibition
FindYourStampsValue.com is glad to inform that Singapore Philatelic Museum opened a special stamp exhibition that is a tribute to celebrate Elvis Presley's 80th birthday.
Fans of Elvis Presley can look forward to a rocking good time at an exhibition featuring stamps and collectibles associated with the king of rock 'n' roll.
The "RETURN TO SENDER - An Exhibition" - opening at the Singapore Philatelic Museum on the 21st of January - is a tribute to celebrate his 80th birthday, which fell on Jan 8.
The exhibition is named after one of his most popular songs. A key highlight is a display of stamps featuring the singer himself, with some dating back to the 1970s and coming from countries such as Sweden and the Netherlands.
Also available at the exhibition is a commemorative stamp, issued by the US Postal Service in 1993, to honour the icon. About 150 Elvis collectibles - such as vinyl records, movie posters and fan magazines - will also be featured.
They are on loan, courtesy of a Singapore collector who has amassed thousands of Elvis memorabilia. Other key items include an original US$1,000 note signed by the music legend.
Singapore Philatelic Museum General Manager Tresnawati Prihadi said: "While Elvis has fans both young and old, maybe the older generation may know him better. Although the younger ones would have heard of his songs, they may not know enough about Elvis. But this is a great time for them to come and learn more about Elvis Presley."
The exhibition will run for seven months until July 1.
