Even though the main highlight of the Praga 2018 World Exhibition will be the real Bombay Cover, you will get a great chance to acquire a wonderful souvenir of the cover – the Bombay Cover miniature sheet released by Czech Post. The theme of the miniature sheet is based on the motif of the stamp and complements it with the motif of a historical map. The unique philatelic item was created by a graphic designer Kamil Knotek. Use the unique chance to add this great replica of one of the most famous philatelic items to your collection!
The legendary Bombay Cover is one of the three most expensive philatelic products in the world. It is famous for its two rare 1-penny stamps with unique wide margins. The cover is a letter addressed to Thomas Jerrome and the sender remained unknown until 1976. He was the Reverend Langrische Banks, who was working in Mauritius for the British and Foreign Bible Society. The letter was sent from Port Louis to Bombay on 4 January 1850. Since then the cover has been a part of many famous collections. Finally it was acquired by a Czech collector on 1 December 2016. The letter is famous for its two rare 1-penny stamps with unique wide margins and featuring a brilliant fresh colour.
By the way, there are similar modern issues that depict some famous philatelic items like the set of stamps by Isle of Man Post dedicated to Penny Black.
