Russian post issued a stamp booklet dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago.
September 4, 1913, the members of the Arctic Ocean Hydrographic Expedition of icebreakers Taimyr and Vaigach led by Boris Vilkitsky discovered an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean at the border between the Kara and Laptev Seas.
January 11, 1926, the Presidium of the USSR Central Executive Committee renamed the archipelago Severnaya Zemlya.
