FindYourStampsValue.com is glad to inform that Russian Post issues a special stamp commemorating a military conflict on Khalkhyn Gol. The stamp is to issue on the 28th of August on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of this event. It is joint issue of Russia and Mongolia.
Fight on Khalkhyn Gol is unannounced local armed conflict, which lasted from spring to autumn 1939 between the USSR and the Mongolian People's Republic on the one hand, and the Empire of Japan and Manchukuo on the other hand. Beginning of the conflict was caused by Japan's demands for recognition Khalkhyn Gol to be a boundary between the puppet state of Manchukuo and Mongolia.
The final battle took place in late August 1939 and ended with the complete defeat of the 6th Independent Army of Japan. On the 15th of September, 1939 between the USSR and the Mongolian People's Republic and Japan an agreement on cessation of hostilities was signed.
The defeat of the Japanese army had a serious impact on the foreign policy stance of the country, becoming one of the factors to keep Japan from fighting against the Soviet Union during the Second World War.
The stamp depicts a medal "Khalkhyn Gol".
