Latvian Post supports the freedom of speech with a new stamp issue

May 11th, 2015 got to know that Latvian Post has released a special stamp dedicated to freedom of speech. The stamp and the cover Freedom of Speech have been designed by Ludis Danilāns. The issue was unveiled and put into circulation on the 3d of May.

UNESCO promotes freedom of expression and freedom of the press and fosters media independence and pluralism. Today, there are still mass media, both printed and online ones, which are fighting for the right to be free and heard.

Work related to the freedom of expression and freedom of the press is part of the fundamental human rights norms, as outlined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 1993, the UN General Assembly declared May 3 to be World Press Freedom Day.
