New Black History Heritage Stamp

January 30th, 2009

Black History month begins on Sunday and the US Postal Service kicked off the celebration Friday with a new stamp.

The Black History Heritage Stamp collection recognizes the lives of people who have enriched African American history.

The newest stamp of Anna Julia Cooper was unveiled this morning at the Tallahassee Main Post Office.

Cooper was an educator and author who will now join Harriet Tubman and Martin Luther King Junior who are on previous stamps.

Availability of the stamp will be announced in May.
