North Korean postage stamps marking the 2014 Brazil World Cup
North Korea has released a set of postage stamps marking the 2014 Brazil World Cup, the country's official news agency said Wednesday.
The sheet of postage stamps as well as three single commemorative stamps, released by the State Stamp Bureau, carries the images of football players dribbling, tackling and shooting along with other World Cup related items, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
A separate single postage stamp was also released in celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the KCNA said.
The country has previously released similar commemorative stamps for the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
The stamps marking the international sports event reflect rising popularity of football in the North, which also aired taped recordings of previous Brazil World Cup matches.
North Korea has failed to clinch a ticket to this year's World Cup after winning its way to football's quadrennial showcase in 2010 for the first time in 44 years.
