Sberatel 2014 – an Important Collector Fair
FindYourStampsValue.com got info that Czech Republic is to hold one of the largest collector fairs – Sberatel. This stamp exhibition will last from the 2d to the 6th of September.
The international Collector Fair is the largest gathering of collectors in the CEE region. Since its inception in 1998, Collector has sought to establish a collectors' event in Prague that would stand in comparison to established exhibitions in Western Europe. The broad directory of collectibles comprises philately, numismatics, minerals, gemstones, cards, historical postcards, posters, and other fields of collectors' interest.
For the first time ever in its history, the fair will be accompanied by the Praga Piccola exhibition of post stamps. It will be a modest, non-competition event the purpose of which is to demonstrate possible ways of presenting philatelic collections to the general public. As a rule, exhibitions of post stamps complement similar fairs taking place abroad; thanks to taking place at the same time and venue, they can attract numbers of visitors they would hardly achieve if organized as standalone events. Moreover, the collocation saves both time and money of collectors and visitors.
The first Praga Piccola exhibition will be dedicated to this year’s centennial anniversary of the Great War and its consequences, in particular the subsequent disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It will present collectors and exhibits from the Czech Republic, as well as from Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Collector Fair has international relevance (only every third visitor in 2013 was from Prague), extending into neighbouring countries (most often Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Great Britain and Russia). Last year, 260 exhibitors participated from 36 countries, and the fair was attended by more than 12,000 satisfied visitors.
