Special Cover celebrating 158th Anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak

Bal Gangadhar Tilak or Lokmanya Tilak, born as Keshav Gangadhar Tilak, an Indian nationalist, journalist, teacher, social reformer, and lawyer was the first leader of the Indian Independence Movement.

Tilak was one of the first and strongest advocates of "Swaraj" (self-rule) and a strong radical in Indian consciousness. He is known for his quote, "Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it!" in India.

India Post issued a Special Cover to mark 158th Birth Anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak at Patna on 26th July 2014. Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, and Law and Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad released the Special Cover at the function organized on the occasion of birth anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak at Taramandal Sabhagar, Patna.
