This year the Bahamas Post Office has released a set of four bright and vibrant stamps portraying intimate portraits of the main characters from the Nativity story.

Each design includes the Star of Bethlehem, or Christmas Star. In Christian tradition the star revealed the birth of Jesus to the Biblical Magi or Wise Men from the East who were inspired to travel to Jerusalem. Meeting King Herod of Judea they asked where the King of the Jews had been born.

Herod directs them towards Bethlehem and as they depart, the star which they had seen in the East, went before them leading them to Jesus’ house, where they worship him and give him gifts.
