On January 1, 2013 the Republic of Belarus took over the CIS presidency. The relevant decision was made at the session of the CIS Council of the Heads of States in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) on December 5, 2012.
During 2013 the Republic of Belarus will preside over the following Charter Bodies of the CIS: the Council of the Heads of States, the Council of the Heads of Governments, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Economic Council, the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the States-Participants of the Commonwealth under Charter and other Bodies of the Commonwealth, and also the commission on economic affairs at the CIS Economic Council.
