Greenland Post introduced 2020 SEPAC stamp!

Greenland Post introduced 2020 SEPAC stamp!

For more than twenty years, POST Greenland has been a member of the Small European Postal Administrations’ Co-operation network, abbreviated Sepac. Every other year from 2007 to 2012, and every year since 2013, the Sepac countries have issued a stamp as part of a joint series. This year, the common theme is "artworks in national collections".

Greenland’s stamp features an artwork by painter Christine Deichmann, with a mother helping her daughter pull off her boots. This everyday scene, and many others like it, fascinated the artist, and many of her artworks depict ordinary people in ordinary situations.

Christine Deichmann was married to a doctor, who had to travel a lot for work, and this allowed her to experience the local Greenlandic culture in different places, and see the vast differences between people in the same country. Although she painted landscapes and animal life as well, she is famed for her portraits of everyday life, like the one above.
