Typical Swiss countryside: Val Mora – a special stamp released!

Typical Swiss countryside: Val Mora – a special stamp released!

The Val Mora is a breathtaking, rugged wilderness that possesses a unique splendour. The Val Mora is at the heart of the second stage of the Alpine Bike route, which travels from Scuol to Aigle in 16 stages. The beauty of this place is captured on the miniature sheet that has been recently released by Swiss Post. The photo that appeared on the stamp was taken by Isabelle Buhler and shows the scenery around Döss Radond in the east of the valley.

The remote Val Mora is paradise for hikers and bikers. Utter bliss in the middle of a peaceful, wide high valley, Alps and striking rock formations on the edge of the Swiss National Park. The photographer for the miniature sheet discovered the valley by bike herself and was immediately reminded of the Canadian wilderness. In her work, she aims to convey the unspoiled, remote and expansive nature of this typically Swiss landscape. Apart from Alpine cattle, mountain bikers and a few hikers, you won’t see anything in the Val Mora even in summer – which is exactly what she seeks to express in her photography.
