December 13-14th: Cherrystone’s Philatelic Auctions

December 13-14th: Cherrystone’s Philatelic Auctions

Cherrystone’s Philatelic Auctions are considered to be one of the most remarkable events for enthusiasts and collectors, interested in exclusive and rare stamps as well as in the history of the post. The auctions were held at Teaneck, N.J., on December 13-14th. All the philatelists also had an opportunity to watch them live online.

The auctions consisted of three sessions: two of them were held on December 13th, and one on December 14th. Anyone can get familiar with a profound PDF guide for every session with all the items and their detailed description on the website. Moreover, these auctions had different geographical sections, for instance:

  • the US section
  • 19th & 20th centuries rarities section
  • Colombian section.

The World section contained some postal rarities of Eastern and Western European countries. The visitors could see and purchase many rarities from Austria, Germany, Italy and other countries.

Here are some interesting lots, sold on the auctions:

In addition, it's also worth mentioning some specifiс lots, like postal items from Jordan (1414-1959), never placed at the auctions before. Another interesting selection was stamps from Kuwait.

In 1967, some auctioneers and philatelic enthusiasts set up a Cherrystone group to organize auctions and sell stamps and other items from different parts of the world. Since then, these auctions take place every month in the US. The group also has offices in London and in Amsterdam.
