Engineers get stamp of approval

Royal Mail has issued eight new stamps to commemorate the men who invented the machines and built the roads, railways and canals that put the United Kingdom at the vanguard of the Industrial Revolution.

This issue also marks the 250th anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his own pottery works in Burslem, Staffordshire, Matthew Boulton's bicentenary and the 250th anniversary of James Brindley commencing the historic Bridgewater Canal from Worsley to Manchester.
