Mayfair Philatelic is to hold its 6th public auction on Sept 29!

Mayfair Philatelic is going to conduct its sixth sale that will take place at Lingfield Park Racecourse on Sunday 29th September 2019. Directed by Rick Warren and Tim Francis, this auction firm offers a comprehensive range of basic, fine and incredibly scarce philatelic material. Since its creation Mayfair Philatelic has sold 8644 lots for a grand total of £2,250,000 (all in the 15 months between March 2018 and June 2019)!

The 6th sale will offer to collectors’ attention Commonwealth and one country collections, with an excellent GB section. A few highlights here include 5 different ‘Rainbow’ Colour trials, strong mint QV including 1 1/2d rosy mauve, some spectacular 1887 Jubilee misperforations and the very scarce Die Proof for the unissued Ed VII £5. One of the rarest items amongst the GB is the 1948 1/- booklet SG BD6. With a catalogue price of £9000, this is the scarcest GB booklet that is to be a real star at this sale. Probably the strongest Commonwealth section they have put together follows, with Barbados proofs, Br. PO’s in E. Arabia SG30a inverted surcharge u/m, Fiji SG 139ab 1d mint pair with ‘War Stamp’ omitted. Additionally, they will also sell a China SG 2397a mint strip and 2 important rarities from Switzerland, the 1912 Pro-Juventute set of 3 unissued forerunners used and the 1862 Italian Provisional bisect (SG46a, cats £8500).

It should be mentioned that the GB and Commonwealth single items sections, lots 562 to 1250, will have the additional facility of live on-line bidding via www.philasearch.com, with the usual option to bid at www.mpastamps.com before the sale. Surely the results of this auction will be spectacular! Don’t miss it.
