Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions has recently conducted its “Flagship US and Worldwide Public Auction” that offered to collectors’ attention nearly 1300 lots of U.S., British and worldwide stamps and postal history. One of the most interesting sections of this sale was the "Wilde" Selection of Italian States including rarities. The staring lot of this section that fetched an incredible sum was the Roman States 1852 1sc rose left corner sheet margin block of 12.

This lot is a truly extraordinary large mint multiple of this rare high value. The sheet offered by Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions is in an extremely fine condition, featuring complete margins all around; the bottom eight stamps actually being never hinged. The Roman States 1852 1sc rose left corner sheet considered as one of the greatest rarities of Roman States Philately and a key item for any gold medal exhibition collection was sold for $19,000. Whereas the block of four Roman States 1852 1sc rose stamps is estimated at 35,000€ by Sassone.
