Stamp collection to celebrate bestseller

Stamp collection to celebrate bestseller

A new stamp collection is being issued in Guernsey to celebrate the publishing success of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society novel.

The book has already sold more than three million copies worldwide.

It was written by American author Mary Ann Shaffer who died before the book was finished, so her niece Annie Barrows completed it. It is based on the wartime occupation of the islands and written entirely in letters, hence the added philatelic resonance.

Six stamps have been produced for this issue in values of 36p, 47p, 48p, 52p, 61p and 65p.

Author Annie Barrows said: "I cannot think of anything that would have pleased my aunt Mary Ann more than these stamps."
