The village swing appeared on a special Estonian stamp!

Estonia Post unveiled a special stamp designed within the framework of the stamp competition Great Estonian Things organised by Omniva. Many Estonians shared their ideas on great Estonian things that are worth being featured on the stamp. The winning entry that was chosen during a public vote shows a village swing. The issue was designed by Indrek Ilves.

The village swing is often associated with a place where people gather and hold important community events. Besides, the swing has long history and even today, it is one of the greatest ways for amusement. The sport kiiking originated in Estonia in 1993, and at that time a special competition was invented according to the rules of which people need to perform a full 360 rotation with a swing. The construction of kiiking swings differs from village swings, but they have the same cultural underpinnings. The stamp is great for sending greeting cards and travel letters.
