Traditional autumn stamp auction in Denmark

Traditional autumn stamp auction in Denmark

All sorts of philatelic goodies are put under the hammer when Sotheby's Auction House holds the autumn international stamp auction.

This year Sotheby's welcomes everyone at the stamp auction in Copenhagen's North Harbour, Denmark. The auction is dedicated to five collections of rare Chinese stamps (this subject achieved massive international demand in recent years). A special section with the well-known philatelist Ole Steen Jacobsen's impressive collection of letters will be available within the auction. Two great classical Denmark collections and best items from other Denmark and foreign sets will be also available to examine, not to mention the old untouched highly valuable collections.

Stamp auction is holding at Baltikavej, 10 in the East of Copenhagen on Friday, 7 October and Saturday, 8 October. The inspection takes place at the same address from Tuesday, 4 October to Saturday, 8 October.

The image above illustrates a stunning collection of Chinese stamps from the period 1878-1980. Its estimated cost is DKK 150,000 (about $27,000).
