To welcome the arrival of the New Year, Chunghwa Post released a set of two stamps to welcome Year of the Rat. These original items resemble wood-block prints, and their clean lines evoke the vitality of the Year of the Rat. In addition to the stamps, Chunghwa Post has also issued a great souvenir sheet.
The NT$6 stamp features a rat juggling a traditional Chinese coin, symbolizing wealth and good fortune in the coming year, while the NT$13 stamp is decorated with a dancing rat, representing health and happiness. NT$15 souvenir sheet features a pair of rats, one red and one purple, which are facing each other. With a radiant sun and a money tree, the image suggests the idea of “hitting the big time” (“big red, big purple” conveys that meaning in a Chinese expression) with regard to one’s finances.
