Chunghwa Post has released four limited edition postage stamps, featuring the National Palace Museum’s antique blue-and-white porcelain. The stamps were issued on November 12. As collectors repeatedly voted the blue-and-white porcelain-themed stamps, Chunghwa Post has decided to reissue these beautiful philatelic items. You can also take a look at the previous Taiwan`s issue featuring the treasures from National Palace Museum`s collection.
The museum’s collection of blue-and-white porcelain includes mainly ceramics made by imperial Chinese workshops, but also has similar relics from other cultures. The first stamp from this philatelic release features the likeness of a charger plate from the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty with fish scrollwork. The second and the third items show a ewer with floral scrollwork and a jar with the eight auspices respectively, both from the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. And the fourth stamp features a globular vase from Wanli’s reign with dragon scrollwork.
So, let` appreciate the design of this original philatelic issue together!
