Finland: Two-stamp miniature sheet to be issued for Kimi Raikkonen

Kimi Raikkonen's 2007 Formula 1 world championship is to be celebrated with stamps. The commemorative issue is a self-adhesive miniature sheet bearing two 1st class non-value indicator stamps. The miniature sheet will be issued on 5 September 2008. The reigning world champion will get his stamp on the verge of the Belgian Grand Prix, two days before the start of the qualifying round. The designer of the miniature sheet is Antti Raudaskoski.

The number of miniature sheets to be issued is still undecided. Also, the final choice of images for the sheet has not been made. The designer of the miniature sheet is thinking of a documentary solution which in some way also reflects Raikkonen's personality. Raikkonen's nickname is Iceman. This reflects his cool nerves.

The issue is also a salute to Raikkonen's team, Ferrari of Italy. The other star of the miniature sheet is naturally Raikkonen's Formula One car. Raikkonen joined the Ferrari team in 2007. His contract lasts till the 2009 season.

Mika Hakkinen, the twice-over world champion of Formula 1, has also appeared on a Finnish stamp. This stamp was issued in 1999.
