German Post honors Ludwig van Beethoven with a special stamp!

German Post honors Ludwig van Beethoven - one of the world’s greatest composers – with an original stamp. Its design features a stylized portrait of Beethoven superimposed over a musical G clef. His autograph appears at the bottom of the philatelic item. Designed by Thomas Steinacker from Bonn, the stamp also celebrates the 250th birth anniversary of Beethoven.

Ludwig van Beethoven was a German pianist and composer who is regarded as one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. He produced numerous innovative compositions that combined vocals and instruments, widening the scope of sonata, symphony, concerto and quartet. He is the crucial transitional figure connecting the Classical and Romantic ages of Western music. But people still don’t understand how he could create so many works of art being deaf. Some of Beethoven’s most important compositions were created during the last 10 years of his life, when he was quite unable to hear. He died at the age of 56.
