Greenland Post introduced two special EUROPA 2020 stamps!

Greenland Post issued their 2020 EUROPA stamps, as part of the yearly collectively themed issue, spanning most of the European postal authorities, along with a few non-European. This year, the common theme is Ancient Postal Routes. The main focus of the two Greenlandic stamps, is the famed pilot Charles Lindbergh, who became famous for being the first person to fly non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. Before this accomplishment, Lindbergh worked as a US Airmail pilot.

In 1933, after suffering a great personal tragedy the prior year, Lindbergh resumed postal piloting - however, this time he would be flying across Greenland.

The two stamps are designed by Robert Dam, and they are based on photographs of the airplane and pilot. One of the stamps depicts a group of people, with both the Lindberghs and the famous polar explorer Knud Rasmussen standing in front of the plane. The second stamp depicts Charles Lindbergh working on his airplane, with a town in the background. The stamps have the Greenlandic flag integrated into the photos in a way that makes the photos come to life.
