Isle of Man Post marks the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing with 8 stamps!

There can be few more significant scientific and cultural achievements than the successful mission to place a human being on the Moon. To commemorate this historic 'first' Isle of Man Post introduced a set of eight remarkable stamps entitiled 'One Small Step'. This beautiful issue has been created with the support of Former Johnson Space Center Director George Abbey, who worked with NASA during the Apollo missions and planetary scientist David R Williams. The stamps show the beauty of space, the moon and the vehicles which took humanity to the moon.

The stamps released by Isle of Man Post feature embedded codes, quotes, tributes and secrets, befitting of this most important mission.

The man's first step on the Moon's surface was made by Neil Armstrong, Commander of the Apollo 11 mission. This significant and world famous event took place on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong, followed by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, became the first man to stand on the Moon. Nearly 240,000 miles from Earth, Armstrong stepped out of the Apollo 11 lunar module, the Eagle, and spoke the famous words to more than a billion people listening at home: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong received numerous awards for his achievement, including the Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
