Living Corals in Malaysia stamps

Living Corals in Malaysia stamps

The special stamp issue by Pos Malaysia dedicated to living corals features corals from Pulau Tioman, Sipadan and Redang.

Pos Malaysia Stamp and Philatelic Division head Yasmin Ramli reported to FindYourStampsValue.com this was the first time Pos Malaysia was issuing collectors' stamps portraying living corals.

"It has been almost 20 years since Pos Malaysia issued stamps on marine life. We feel this is a good time to re-feature sea life. We want to create awareness and interest in the uniqueness of these creatures", she said at a stamp preview.

Yasmin added the stamps featured sea anemone, soft coral, feather stars and sea pen, whereas the miniature sheet had the table coral design in the background with other corals in the foreground.

The highlight of this collection is the pearl ink used to print the stamps, which gives them a glistening effect.
