FindYourStampsValue.com is glad to introduce the ranking of “Most popular stamps 2014 by our readers’ opinion”. The list of winners is completed after analyzing our reader`s preferences concerning the stamps issued in the year 2014.

Among thousands of stamps, four philatelic issues were selected to be the most popular and interesting for stamp enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.

Main stamp of the year 2014

The most popular stamp series of the year 2014 according to our riders` opinion was released by USPS. This stamp series got the greatest number of votes, reviews and likes&shares. Vintage Circus Posters became a real hit in the world of philately catching the interest of millions of collector worldwide. (original news)

Main stamp of the year 2014: Vintage Circus Posters

This stamp series features the posters of different circus organizations such as Barnum and Bailey, Sells-Floto Circus, Ringling Brothers, Al G. Barnes Circus and Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. The images depicted on this stamp release include clowns, acrobats and various circus animals such as elephants, tigers etc. The pane selvage on which all the stamps are placed depicts an image of the entrance to a circus taken by famous circus photographer Edward J. Kelty in 1937.

The second place

The second place according to the number of reviews and votes has gone to a set of stamps commemorating the important historical figures of Austria. The issue is dedicated to tragic historical event - Assassination of the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie Duchess of Hohenberg. (original news)

On June 28, 1914, in the Bosnian’s capital Sarajevo came to the fateful assassination of the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie Duchess of Hohenberg.

The political objective of the assassination was to break off Austria-Hungary’s south-Slav provinces so they could be combined into a Yugoslavia. The assassins’ motives were consistent with the movement that later became known as Young Bosnia. The assassination led directly to the First World War.

The third place

The third place of our ranking by the number of reviews and votes has gone to several stamps issued by Germany and Brazil.

The first issue that has its peculiarities was released by German Post celebrating the victory of German National Football team in FIFA 2014. (original news)

This event became an important part of German history. The peculiarity of this stamp is that five millions copies of stamps commemorating Germany`s soccer victory were printed before the final game even took place. The day of the victory became a real national holiday that was celebrated almost the whole week.


Another stamp series issued by Brazil Post shares with previous philatelic item the third place. The series is dedicated to 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. It should be noticed that even though Brazil Football Team failed to gain the victory in FIFA 2014, several other stamp issues were released by Brazil Post to celebrate this important sporting event. The design’s stamp from Brasilia has in the background image of the famous Cathedral. The football player in the foreground is composed of various colours and thus represents all of the ethnicities that make up Brazilian society as well as the coming together of players from all over the world. The poster uses bright colors to depict the joy the event brings and features football through the image of the ball at the player’s foot.

FindYourStampsValue.com got from Brazil Post some info concerning this stamp issue. By releasing these stamps Brazil Post intended to homage the 12 cities where the football games took place. The images for this stamp issue were selected among FIFA posters and then they were adapted to stamps.

After releasing the philatelic items became quite popular in Brazil and worldwide. In spite the fact that Brazil National Team failed to get the victory the stamps had good receipt among philatelists and customers from around the world.
