National Birds – a special Europa 2019 stamp released by Rusmarka

This year the most beautiful EUROPA stamp competition is based on the theme: “National Birds”. Rusmarka has released its version of EUROPA 2019 stamp that is dedicated to a Siberian Crane that is also known as the Siberian white crane or the snow crane. The Siberian Crane or White Crane is the large white crane, with its elegant long legs and neck, stands at well over a metre in height. A deep red mask covers the bird’s face from its bill to behind the eyes. This species of cranes is endemic to the northern territories of Russia. This Critically Endangered bird is third rarest and the most threatened species of crane in the world. This white crane is threatened by degradation and habitat loss. In addition, they migrate over very long distances during which they are facing hunting pressure and crossing of the Himalayas.
