National Park stamp from Germany

National Park stamp from Germany

The German Post has issued a stamp dedicated to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. It protects about 57 square kilometers of one of the largest beech forests in Europe. This hardwood forest is no longer forested. This is a measure of the program "nature of Tomorrow". Dying trees are not removed, but left lying on the ground, used by animals and as fertilizer for future crops.
Each season offers the viewer a unique spectacle: in spring the leaf of beech trees in the entire National Park gets a light green color as the "jewel in the rock". In summer the beech trees offer a shaded canopy. The "Indian Summer" turns in a yellow-red-orange colored fall and in winter the smaller trees put on snow caps like magic Gnomes.
