New Irish Greetings stamps

New Irish Greetings stamps

On 6 March, 2009, An Post issued two Greetings stamps.

The Greetings series of stamps has been very popular since it was first introduced in 1990. Initially issued in gummed format, the series has been issued in self-adhesive format since 2000.

This year, the stamps and first day cover (FDC) feature bright, colourful and light-hearted illustrations by Irish artist, Cathy Dineen, with typography and layout by Steve Simpson. The stamps show the fun and enjoyment associated with sending and receiving traditional and festive greetings by post. One stamp shows a little girl, assisted by her father, posting a card, and the other stamp shows the happy recipient.
