The artwork selected for the 2009 postage stamp to honor Oregon's Sesquicentennial was unveiled at the state capitol Tuesday, August 19th. Governor Ted Kulongoski, who was on hand, says the stamp "truly captures the beauty of Oregon".

The oil painting artwork was created by Beaverton artist, Greg Manchess from a scene near Boardman State Park.

Manchess' art has been featured on the covers of Time, National Geographic and Atlantic Monthly magazines. The original artwork will go the U.S. Postal Service Museum in Washington D.C.

The new stamp will be available next January 14th, a month before Oregon's actual birthday.
