New stamps from San Marino – ‘Writers’

New stamps from San Marino – ‘Writers’

The set is composed of two values of € 0.60 and € 2.20 and commemorates respectively the 100th anniversary of the death of Edmondo De Amicis (1846-1908) and the centenary of the birth of Cesare Pavese (1908-1950).

The € 0.60 stamp portrays the Sardinian Tamburino, who heroically risks his life to deliver a war message. This is a story from "Cuore" (Heart) a novel written in 1886 by De Amicis which has become one of the most popular texts in Italian literature for children.

The € 2.20 stamp is based on the novel "La Luna e i falo" (The moon and the bonfires) (1950), a work which wrapped up Pavese's literary career.
