The Oregon Statehood stamp will be released on January 14, 2009. The first day of issue ceremony will be at the World Forestry Center in Portland.

The stamp was painted by a well known illustrator from Beaverton, Oregon named Gregory Manchess. The original painting is quite small, only about 4x9 inches.

The stamp depicts the rugged coastline of Oregon near Samuel Boardman state park, and was reviewed and approved by the Governor and by Oregon 150, the official Sesquicentennial organization.

In honor of the stamp, every post office in the state of Oregon will have a special first day of sale postmark.

The postmark is of a unique design applied with a prototype postmark device made of clear acrylic.
