PHLPost issued two “King and Queen of Hearts” stamps to celebrate Valentine’s Day

In line with the celebration of Valentine’s Day, PHLPost released a set of two special “King and Queen of Hearts” stamps. The stamps were specially prepared for Valentine’s Day that is celebrated worldwide annually on February 14. The bright philatelic items presented by PHLPost feature the Filipino king and queen of hearts in national costumes to emphasize the Filipino way of celebrating the “Araw ng mga Puso”.

In the Philippines, Valentine's Day is called Araw ng mga Puso (“Hearts Day”). This romantic holiday is for all lovers, married couples, as well as for singles searching for partners. Closely connected with such symbols as hearts, doves, and cupid, Valentine's Day is best celebrated by sending flowers, confectionery, or greeting cards, known as “Valentine’s card” to a special someone. The Philippines celebrate this romantic holiday in the same manner as the rest of the world. It is usually marked by a steep increase in the price of flowers, particularly red roses. Valentine’s Day is the most popular day for weddings, with some localities offering mass ceremonies for no charge.
