Post of Srpska introduced two Europa 2021 special stamps in cooperation with the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural, Historical, and Natural Heritage. Europa stamps are among the most popular philatelic items that represent cooperation between postal operators and promote philately. They exist to build awareness of the common roots, culture, and history of Europe and common goals.
Created by Nebojsa Djumic, the issue features two endangered national animals - Chanchara and the Dwarf Mouse. Chanchares (Testudo hermanni) are small to medium-sized turtles with black and yellow spots on the armor. These animals inhabit the area of southern Europe. In Serbia, Chanchara lives in the Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean parts of the country and the narrower belt in the continental regions.
The Dwarf Mouse (Micromys minutus) is one of the smallest rodents in the world. It is only 55-75mm long, whereas the length of its tail equals the measurements of its body. Adults weigh between 5 and 7 grams. The fur on the back is brownish with hints of yellow. The abdomen is usually white. It has a two-colored tail. This species inhabits Eurasia, living in grain crops, tall grasses, forest edges, and various moist habitats.
